This field structure is perfect for regions with cool wet springs and in addition,if there are no out-buildings such as barns or sheds for attaching mason bee homes.

The Yurt Field Shelter is a boon to mason bees because it increases ambient temperatures inside the shelter which allows mason bees to start their day earlier each day, fly longer each day, visit more flowers and produce more offspring. We have tested it for four years and it is a great success.

The YURT is beautifully designed and makes the perfect Field Shelter. Its sturdy engineering allows it to hold enough nests for 2000 cocoons (3 rows x 9 Highrises x 72 nesting tunnel per Highrise). Under good weather conditions, mason bees can produce 2-3 times and up to 6 times this number in one year. Note the varied colour of the trays. Unlike Honeybees, each Mason Bee nests in its own tunnel. Mason bees use colour to find their nests readily and reliably. The coloured trays help keep bees at home and increase pollination in your garden.

These stacking trays made from wood. These are designed for smaller summer mason bees that frequent gardens from May to September. The trays have 24 tunnels, to accommodate up to 24 bees and 200 eggs. The trays slip easily into any BeeDiverse Mason Bee House.

These Nesting Trays have small tunnels specially sized for summer mason bees. The tunnels are 4mm (5-32nd inch) in diameter. Each tray has routered, lengthwise grooves. When stacked the trays form tunnels where the bees nest and lay their eggs. In the fall, you can gently pop the trays apart and for a close up look at the nests and cocoons.

The trays are modular – just add more trays to increase your mason bee population.

Corrugated wrap provides nesting cavities for the smaller summer mason bees.

Nesting cavities are 3-4mm in height and 4mm in width – perfect for the tiny summer mason bees. Corrugated wrap is easy to use and the cost is right. There are many species of these smaller summer mason bees and often up to 3 species will nest in the same house. The Royal has a peaked roof and beautifully curved overhang to protect the bees from wind, rain and hot sun.

This Royal comes with our solid wood, summer nesting trays. The trays have smaller tunnels 4mm or 5-32nd inch in diameter – the size that summer mason bees prefer. Each tray has routered, lengthwise grooves. When stacked, the trays form tunnels where the bees nest and lay their eggs. You can gently pop the trays apart and for a close up look at the nests and cocoons.

Each Royal for Summer Mason Bees has an attractive Predator Guard. The Guard fits the front of the Chalet to keep woodpeckers and parasitic wasps away from your Mason Bees. Choose from yellow, black, red, or blue.

There are many different species of summer mason bees

Leafcutter bees cut tiny pieces of leaf and flower petals to create a safe place for their new offspring.

Leafcutter bees require warm temperatures of at least 20C / 70F to become active and pollinate flowers.

This Highrise comes fully assembled and has everything you need to welcome Leafcutter Bees into your garden. Includes: home, nesting tunnels for 150+ bees, 150+ cocoons, emerging space above nesting tunnels and under roof (the attic), predator guard, box with cocoons and harvesting tool with red tape.

Directions:

• Prior to setting out Highrise, push nesting block tight against back of the wooden Highrise.
  
  
• Place in a sunny spot, safe from wind and rain.
  
  
• Prop lid up with harvesting tool (wood dowel with red tab) and set box in front of nesting tunnels and behind predator guard. Leafcutter bees generally emerge after about 3 weeks of warm weather. Once they have emerged, they wake each morning with the morning sun. Leafcutter bees function best when nesting tunnels face East.
  
  
• Place at eye level so bees can be watched going to and from their flower patch.

In the fall, pull block of nesting tunnels out of Highrise with the pull tab. Push cocoons out of their nesting tunnels with harvesting tool (dowel with red tab) and store in the wooden box away from rodents.

The Spring Mason Bee Osmia lignaria, is a friendly early spring pollinator. It emerges when tree fruit blossoms and blueberry blossoms are open early and mid spring.
